Dinner With HRH Prince Robert of Haut Brion

Our Featured Vintner this year at the Naples Winter Wine Festival was HRH Prince Robert of Luxembourg, owner of Chateaux Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion.

Following a mind-blowing comparative tasting of the 1961, 1982, 1989, 1990 and 2000 vintages of Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion, we poured the 1959 HB and 1975 LM at a Luncheon at the Ritz Carlton.

The following evening at a Dinner in the Prince’s honor at the beachfront estate of Lee and Penny Anderson we too felt like royalty with an outstanding meal prepared by acclaimed LA Chef Joachim Splichal of Patina which began with the 2003 Haut Brion Blanc.

Also pictured here is Ian Cauble, the Best Young Sommelier in the World who I was honored to take to Athens, Greece last September. Ian brought home the Gold Medal for the United States in the International Competition sponsored by the Chaine des Rotisseurs, the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world!
